The way I like to work on a novel length is to concentrate totally on it until I need a break, (usually 3 or 4 weeks in,) then I work on a short story. That usually re-invigorates me to return to the novel. I like to have something else on the back burner to divert my attention to for a change of pace/scene, but it has to be something that isn't imminently due on an editor's desk.
The good news is I met a short story deadline this past week and I'm almost done with a short novella -- THE RIGHT MEN FOR THE JOB -- and that one is due in on Monday. It's going to be a busy weekend! I also have a heap of email to catch up on over the weekend. I'm behind on that too. Gulp. I'm taking this afternoon and evening off, then I'll be rolling up my sleeves for the final laps on the novella. Wish me luck!

I also had some more good news on the sales front! I sold a new short story to THE MAMMOTH BOOK OF THREESOMES AND MORESOMES. This collection is edited by Linda Alvarez and will be out Spring/Summer 2010. Cause for celebration there, I think. :) Woot!
Have a great weekend, folks!
