Popping out to say hello

March is turning out to be hugely busy here, and on the writing front I have four deadlines to meet, four short stories of varying lengths. As you can imagine, it’s a bit chaotic in the old brain department! The good news is one of them is done and gone, and one of them should be finished up later tonight. Two out of four sounds a helluva lot better -- I can feel the pressure subsiding a wee tad. ;-)

Meanwhile, I thought I’d grab a minute to do a quick post and say hello to my visitors. I hope you're all keeping warm and safe, especially with the various storms that are hitting the northern hemisphere. Here in Yorkshire we're currently being lashed by sleet, rain AND snow, intermittently, and we're expecting 80 mph gale force winds tonight. England has been hit by a so-called “weather bomb.” Needless to say, the cat knows this and she's been curled up in front of the fire all day long, bagsing her spot. The laptop and I are not too far away, following her good example.

On the personal front, I braved the outside world with a non-writing friend last night. We comandeered the fireside in a local pub to catch up on each other’s news. I mention it because times like this make me very aware of how odd the writing life can be…or perhaps I should say how difficult it is to explain it’s unique challenges! The writer's who call by will understand this. The bonus was my pal was in awe at how well and how relaxed I look. So, despite the various insecurities, it must be doing me good - right? Well, we've known each other for some 15 years, through some huge ups and downs for us both, so it was good hearing that news. It doesn't hurt that I've lost a bunch of weight over the last year or so. ;-)

Ooh, I’ve added a new widget here on the blog. In the menu you’ll now find a subscription service for updates. If you want to keep in touch with my news but hate coming round to find nothing new (sorry! :-) then this is the service for you. I use Feedblitz for several blogs and forums and I’ve been meaning to get it set up here.

In publication news, only three and a half months until RECKLESS is published! Yay! I can’t wait to see it in print. It’s now available for advance order online, and sites in the US are offering a hefty discount if you place your order now. You can check out an excerpt HERE, and here are the various links, in case you want to give it a gander:
