Book giveaway! Who wants a print copy of ALONG FOR THE RIDE?

Okay folks, I'm away from the desk for a couple of days. When I get back, I'll give away a print copy of ALONG FOR THE RIDE. This short novel has recently gone to print, so I'm celebrating! If you haven't read the ebook and you'd like to give it a try, just leave me a comment on this blog post, and we'll pick a random winner on Sunday.

Here's the book blurb and some review comments:

When Georgina Montgomery gets involved with the Austrian artist Calvin Rolf and his Fleet Street photographer sidekick, Jason Sutherland, she signs herself up for more escapades than she ever could have imagined. Georgie soon discovers that being involved with two gorgeous men is a heady intoxicant and she quickly casts all her inhibitions aside. She's in her element, but their idyll of sexual adventuring in London is interrupted when a paparazzi scandal threatens to be unleashed around them.

They hit the road and when Georgie comes along for the ride she finds herself going further than she ever has before. None of them thought they'd go as far as falling in love, but they do, and who are they each falling for? When the paparazzi hunt results in Georgie's kidnap, danger ups the emotional stakes for everybody involved and territorial claims of the heart are about to be made.

Along for the Ride by Saskia Walker is a delectable exercise in sensual and romantic discovery...Their ménage is terribly hot (in that amazingly awesome way) and beautifully sweet as they each struggle along their separate paths to discovering and accepting love. Ms. Walker has done an outstanding job of creating a sizzling story, with lots of bone-meltingly scorching sex, that still grabs one by the heart and causes one to go all soft inside with romantic notions. The best part is that Ms. Walker has that rare talent of sucking the reader completely into her world and keeping her bound to the pages. I found myself trying to rush for the end and at the same time savor every moment. This is one of those unique books that has me shoving my friends to the store to buy it; because there is not any chance I am letting even my most trusted friends any where near my copy . . . and they just must read this one! 5 stars. -- Keely Skillman, EcataRomance Reviews

The sumptuous erotic story of a ménage between two friends and a vivacious woman is the basis of Along for the Ride. This book is filled with amazing tension and sexual imagery; you will need more than a few moments to recover your senses. The highly erotic scenes display needs of primitive hungering, deep profound emotions of new found love and hidden wants that are gradually realized throughout this well written tale. The ménage between the characters and homoerotic sensuality adds a more profound dimension to not only the past of the characters, but to their depth. The same sensuality between Jason, Calvin and Georgina is played beautifully in showing the slow transition from lust to love. This breathtaking story explores the fragile theme of love but adds the twist of various styles of sensuality and sexuality to set a tale that is enjoyable for any reader. 4 Stars, heat level: Orgasmic -- Mila “Bean” Ramos Just Erotic Romance Reviews

This erotic story will have you hot and bothered right from the beginning, all the way to the end. Along For The Ride explores an alternative relationship between these three characters in a provocative, scorching manner. Georgie just drips with sexuality. She’s a woman who wants to explore and experience all of her sexual desires and fantasies. And Cal is just the man to help her. An alpha male through and through, Cal controls the partners in this relationship with a strong, yet gentle hand, but when his feelings for Georgie become more intense than he’s ever felt, it takes Jason to make him realize it...If you enjoy hot, hot, hot sex in a manner that is definitely not traditional, along with a little suspense you’ll love Along For The Ride. 4 Angels. -- Trang, Fallen Angel Reviews

Oh, a quick disclaimer, one reviewer put a warning on this book. What was it? "Inappropriate use of vegetables." LOL! Just saying.... :D

Have a great week/end!

Busy bee

Wow, it’s been a busy time here in the run-up to leaving for the RWA conference. I mostly feel quite levelheaded about the whole event, until I look at my timetable.... Ha! I'm on top of preparations though, and I’m now concentrating on what to say when I meet with my agent and all my editors. Gulp. Wish me luck, I'm very nervous.

In other news, ALONG FOR THE RIDE is now available in print! Amazon.com is shipping and so is Amazon UK although the information has not yet updated there. This book has been available as an ebook for around three years and it’s lovely to see it in print. The print copies are gorgeous, too, a smart and compact format with a lovely feel to them. Here’s the blurb:

Good comments continue to come in about RECKLESS. Check out what my anthology buddy Sasha White had to say about the book and my writing here. I was delighted with her kind words! RECKLESS was also featured in the German romance magazine Love Letters, with a lovely review. Love letters is a super magazine, the German version of the Romantic Times, if you will. I wish we had something like it in England.

Ooh, there will be another freebie copy of RECKLESS up for grabs over at Alison Kent’s blog on Saturday. I’ll try to remember to post about this again, but my brain is a bit overloaded right now. ;-)

Coming very soon in print: ALONG FOR THE RIDE

ALONG FOR THE RIDE will be available in print from Total-E-Bound around the middle of this month and is now available for advance order from Amazon in the UK! US readers will be able to get it Stateside, no overseas shipping. It's already listed on Amazon.com here, and should be ready to order soon.

ALONG FOR THE RIDE was my first longer publication and has been available as an ebook for almost three years. It's a ménage a trois story and it's probably still my naughtiest erotic story. :) If you'd like to read an excerpt and reviews, go here.

And just check out the cover flat, the colours are gorgeous!

Some exciting news

ALONG FOR THE RIDE is going to print! I'm so excited!

British publishers Total-E-Bound are putting several of their ebooks into print, and ALONG FOR THE RIDE will be one of them. Yay!! This means my print readers who don't venture into ebooks will have the option to try this early publication. The story is a longish novella/short novel, a very naughty ménage romp with a romantic ending. You can read a sample and reviews HERE. More news on dates etc, when I have them.

Meanwhile, I'm gradually catching up on myself after a very busy few weeks. I even managed to clear my desk of urgent jobs and have a day off with the legendary Portia Da Costa yesterday! Wendy/Portia is currently celebrating 14 years of publications with the cutting edge publisher, Black Lace, and we had a wee dram to mark the ocassion. :) Then, after a long natter over lunch, we went on a bookshop trawl and hunted down all the PDC titles we could find. It was a lot of fun!

Back to work today. Hope you're all having a good weekend!

New reviews, and some thoughts on kink

Exciting stuff - my work has received a bunch of new reviews these past few days, all feedback which is both helpful and uplifting for me to read! I'll post the erotica comments today, fantasy tomorrow. :)

First up, a new review for ALONG FOR THE RIDE.

Along for the Ride is a titillating roller coaster ride of lust. The heat between Georgie and Cal is enough to start a fire, add in Jason and it becomes combustible. Not the run of the mill erotic romance, there is plenty of shocking naughtiness in this story and it will keep the reader fanning themselves throughout. The sex scenes are amazingly hot with a ton of spice. I enjoyed reading the story; it kept me wondering what was coming next. I was pleasantly surprised with the new and inventive ways the story took sexual twists. Ms. Walker has done a very nice job and I look forward to reading more by her. Dawnie, 4 angels from Fallen Angel reviews

Great stuff. Thanks, Dawnie! And these two comments about my short story, "Sign Your Name," which appears in Alison Tyler's K IS FOR KINKY, had me smiling and motivated today:

The problem of navigating myriad roads to sexual excitement is solved by Alison Tyler’s little compendiums of naughty goodness. She has compiled a series of items of delicious filth, bound them loosely into themes and delivered them as an Erotic Alphabet for your delight, delectation and fumbling....The richness of fantasy might even encourage you abandon your battery-operated friend in order to orchestrate a brand new real life experience with your loved one. I find myself persuaded to purchase a pair of white pants and a thick tipped biro – not sure? Try searching out “Sign Your Name” by Saskia Walker in K is for Kinky and you might find yourself doing the same. Corylus, for Blogcritics

Saskia Walker’s "Sign Your Name" starts the anthology with a comparatively mild deviance. Not that there is anything mild about the sizzling hot sex scenes in this raunchy tale of pens and penetration. "Sign Your Name" contains Saskia Walker’s signature style of writing intelligent, fun fiction. With her usual panache she produces the most powerful and passionate eroticism. Ashley Lister, for the Erotica Readers and Writers Association

Wooohoo! Many thanks to Ashley and Corylus.

I particularly appreciate that Ashley accepts the pen/ink/skin deviance as mild, but as kink, nonetheless. Sasha White and I were bewildered by a couple of comments we received for our 2007 KINK anthology , which showed the reader translated KINK exclusively for BDSM. Kink by definition refers to any unusual sexual practice (and this is shown so well through the variety in Alison Tyler's collection.) Therefore it includes BDSM but doesn’t exclude other kinky sex, such as wanting sex in public places or getting off on being written on. I see this correlation from time to time, where something isn’t considered kinky unless it's hardcore BDSM. Is the colloquial definition of kink narrowing, I wonder, in the same way that "menage" is now commonly accepted in place of "ménage a trois." I'm fascinated by etymology, in case you hadn't guessed ;-)

From Dictionary.com
KINK Slang.
a. bizarre or unconventional sexual preferences or behavior.
b. a person characterized by such preferences or behavior.

Speaking of words - I better get back to them! My schedule for March is heavy.

Back to business

Our few days away from home went by in a flash. What we did was spend a couple of days visiting with my parents in Devon, with a stopover in Shakespeare country on the way back. We had great weather for the trip, but it felt rushed and crazy -- oh and I lost a filling on the way down (the usual holiday drama, in other words ;) -- but it was a good break.

Sometimes when I go away I wonder if it’s worth it, though. It has taken me the best part of two days to catch up on email replies and list mail, etc. I haven’t even got to the majority of the blogs I like to keep up with yet. It did do me good, getting away from the PC. I think :) I spent the first few days pining for it, and the last few wishing I never had to turn it on again. Hmm. Weird that.

One of the things I came back to was a surprise new review for ALONG FOR THE RIDE, my e-novel. This one has been out nearly two years so I wasn’t expecting new reviews, but the comments from Robin at My Book Cravings really made me smile and put me in the mood to write again.

ALONG FOR THE RIDE is quite literally an erotic thrill ride. As always, Saskia Walker sets the stage in paragraph one for a sensually intense romance. The ménage scenes are highly erotic and may melt your computer screen. These three characters, along with the supporting cast, will have you riveted to your seat, panting for the next step in their sensual journey of discovery. Cal and Jason are both extremely sexual men whose exuberant enjoyment of sex comes across with every scorching love scene. ALONG FOR THE RIDE is not a story for the faint of heart. There is a great deal of intensity in each and every scene that pulled me into the book completely. I could not wait to see what would happen next between these superbly written characters. I loved the sassy heroine and her two wonderful alpha males. This unique love story is one that I will read again; not only for the sheer enjoyment but to make sure that I haven’t missed a thing. Log on to Loose ID and purchase a copy of this jewel of a book today! You do not want to miss this one. 5 roses.

I love the image of the melting computer screen. :) Motivational stuff, much appreciated. Over the next three months I have 79,000 words of a novel to write, 18,000 words of a novella, and two short stories. I don’t even want to know how many words that works out at per day! It’s going to be busy. First up I’ll be working on the novel, my next contemporary erotic romance, RECKLESS. I’ll post an excerpt here soon.

I hope all is well with you guys. Have a great week!

Audio and e-books

My interview with In the Know magazine went really well. It turned out the interviewer and I went to the same University, so we had quite a bit in common! The feature won’t be out until January, but I’m really looking forward to seeing it.

In other news, I've now had a couple of queries about getting books on CD, so following the latest message on my guest book I thought I'd post here on the subject as well as responding individually. So far I don't have anything on CD, but my fantasy publisher, Juno Books, is putting some (if not all) of the line out as audio books. The first book, Jenn Reese's Jade Tiger, is already in that format. It may happen with a couple of my books next year and, if so, I'll include that information on my newsletter and website. Fingers crossed! I have a couple of partially sighted readers who enjoyed my ebooks, which are easier for them, and one of my closest friends is hoping for audio format for the same reason too.

I must admit I’m getting into audio books myself. Partly because of vision problems, partly because I can do other stuff while I listen. :) I've been listening to some of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series this way, catching up on the ones I've missed. And speaking of ebooks, I should probably mention my ebook, ALONG FOR THE RIDE will still be available for the next few months. Click here for an excerpt and to find out more.
