Red Sage 15th Anniversary celebration contest

Kidnap This Logo!
And You Could Win!

To celebrate its Fifteenth Anniversary, Red Sage is throwing a party! Every party needs presents, and here’s a gift that could win you the July Secrets anthology and Calista Fox’s new novel, Object of Desire!

Here’s how to play the party game.

Anyone can play! All you have to do is “kidnap” this logo and post it on your blog or website. Copy and paste the jpg image of the anniversary gift to your own blog or website to kidnap it. Be sure to include these instructions so people know how to play!

Invite your readers and friends to send an email with the subject line “Ransom Note” to eRedSage@gmail.com. Inside this email, they must include a link back to your kidnapped logo.

Then you and your friend will both be entered into a drawing to win free trade paperbacks! Every time one of your readers sends a ransom note with a link, you will be entered again! Each Ransom Note is worth two entries in the drawing -- one for the person who sends the Ransom Note, and one for the linked blog or website. And you both can win!

Want more chances to win? Invite your readers and friends to kidnap this logo, and then you can enter again by sending a Ransom Note linking to your friend’s blog or website!

The more times you enter, the more chances you have to win!

Group blog or website? No problem! Just be sure to sign your post so we know who the winner should be!

Good luck, and have fun!

Red Sage. Read Dangerously.

NAUGHTY BITS in publication news!

I’m delighted to announce that my first Spice Brief story, CAUGHT IN THE ACT, will be included in a new print anthology entitled NAUGHTY BITS 2, due out in March 2010!

This will be the second NAUGHTY BITS anthology published by Spice. You can check out the first one here.

The news was totally unexpected, and that in itself was a real treat. We’ve had a sneak preview of the cover. It’s gorgeous! It has that sophisticated-yet-naughty thing going on (like the first one) that I love so much. I’ll post the cover as soon we’re sent the final version. Meanwhile, checkout the stellar line up! I’m totally honoured to see my story included.

Hi honeys, I'm home! (plus a couple of photos from Wales)

Hi honeys, I’m home from our short break in North Wales! It was, by necessity, a very short break indeed, but it did my state of mind good nonetheless. I really need these completely off line/away from the PC breaks to keep me sane and functioning. ;-)

North Wales is practically on our doorstep and we try to visit once a year. The coastal scenery, the landscape of Snowdonia, the fresh air and peace -- it’s a favourite getaway destination. Luckily we can cross the border into Wales in around 90 minutes!

We pretty much always visit LLandudno -- a favorite Victorian coastal town that is especially disabled friendly with a wide, flat promenade and accessible shopping area -- but we hadn’t visited the Llandudno WWII Home Front experience before, so I put it top of the list for this trip.

This is a small private collection of British WWII memorabilia, lovingly put together to recreate the experience of living in Britain during WWII. You are led through the period from the heartwrenching announcement: "we are at war", to ration books, ID cards, clothing, gas masks, entertainment, uniforms, visual propaganda, weapons, medical equipment, and all manner of collectable items.

Here I am by the women’s landworker section. This part was especially fascinating for me. Many years ago, as part of my Masters degree, I wrote about the visual propaganda of the period and how the image of women changed and grew because of the home front needs.

At the start of the visit you are given a WWII torch to help you see everything in the displays and to find your way in the "blackout." This is especially important when you get to the air raid shelter. Here I am, amazed to be inside an actual Anderson air raid shelter!

As soon as I went in there, I was inspired. So many images and thoughts assailed me. I also thought about my author pals who write passionate novels set in the 2 world wars: Jina Bacarr and Victoria Janssen. Notice how -- in the second photo –- I’m more subdued as I listen to the sounds of war...

Once you’re in there the warning lamp flickers and the siren sounds. Then you hear the sound of the bombers coming in and children crying. Emotions tumble in. The shelter suddenly seems so fragile... You can just see me clutching my blackout torch!

This is a much recommended collection to visit if you are in North Wales. A true inspiration.

Once last photo, here I am (wrapped up warm!) on the harbour at Conwy, a walled fortress town with a stunning castle. My current work in progress, INESCAPABLE, is partly set in Conwy and North Wales. It was good to touch the place again and think about the story in situ, rather than at the keyboard.

Now I’m at home and I'm trying to get back into the groove. Honest. :)

What's going on with me?

I haven’t blogged in a while, oops. Real life conspired to throw a bunch of stuff at me all at once, as it sometimes does. In the midst of that I decided my priorities were to write when I could, and read when I couldn’t write. I haven’t been on line much, and I'm making slow progress with INESCAPABLE, the current novel in progress. I'm enjoying this story immensely but it’s a big challenge too, as it should be. I also recently finished and subbed a new short story, ONE LAST TIME. That one was a tough write because I wanted it to be really special to live up to an unusual theme in erotica. I wrangled with the story a lot, but I did like it when it was done. Fingers crossed the editors like it too!

I’ve also read another awesome Kresley Cole novel -- NO REST FOR THE WICKED, a totally fulfilling read. I’m all out of order with this series but it doesn’t matter, I’m loving every moment. Kresley Cole is a goddess of an author. I don’t have time to post a full review but I’ll do a summary of what I love about Kresley Cole’s work at some future date.

I’m hoping to get away from the home front for a few days this week, and the plan is to post the readers contests I mentioned before I go, promise. They're a bit of a thank you for those readers who have tried my work in one format, with a giveaway from another format.

In book news ALONG FOR THE RIDE is now available in print in the US! This early work has been out in ebook for several years and now its gone to print. It's already available in the UK through Amazon UK, and now Amazon.com have it in stock as well. Readers who enjoyed my contemporary novels DOUBLE DARE and RECKLESS might enjoy this story as well. It's a contemporary ménage a trois story. If you'd like to read an excerpt and reviews GO HERE.

In other book news, my short novella ONE ENCHANTED NIGHT is now available on Fictionwise with a discount for the first few days.

I'll pop back later to post the contests!
